Demonstration Gardens

What is a Demonstration Garden?

A master gardener demonstration garden is an educational space that teaches gardening techniques and best practices: 

 

  • Purpose

    Demonstration gardens teach gardening for health, aesthetics, and culinary purposes. They can also showcase plants that grow well in the local climate and soil. 

 

  • Features

    Demonstration gardens can include a variety of gardens, such as vegetable gardens, herb gardens, and gardens that demonstrate a positive impact on the community. 

 

  • Activities

    Visitors can learn about: 

    • Planting techniques 

    • Transplanting 

    • Rooting 

    • Plant identification 

    • Landscape design 

    • Insect control and identification 

    • Recommended planting practices 

    • Overall garden care

The Louisa Extension Master Gardeners have two demonstration gardens listed below.

This garden is located at the historic Bracketts Farm in the Green Springs District of Louisa County.  The Farm address is 1117 Bracketts Farm Road, Louisa, VA 23093. Virginia Cooperative Extension Office Garden

The Office is located at 200 W. Main Street, Louisa VA 23093.  Parking is behind the building.  Feel free to come by and visit the garden.  It will not be attended by Master Gardeners, but the plants have all been identified by metal plant stakes.  If you have any questions at all, click on the Contact Us page and reach out to us.
